Loftware offers two ways to connect with Oracle: through Oracle E-Business Suite (EBS) or through Oracle Integration Cloud (OIC). Which method fits best depends on your Oracle architecture. Do you run Oracle EBS on-premise, or do you already work with Oracle Cloud SCM? Giesbus advises which Loftware Oracle integration best fits your environment.
Why are there 2 methods for Loftware Oracle integration?
Your Oracle architecture determines which connection fits best. That is why Loftware offers two separate integration paths:
- Oracle EBS Integration: for those using Oracle E-Business Suite on-premise
- Oracle Cloud Integration (OIC): for those working with Oracle Cloud SCM and Oracle Integration 3
So you are not choosing a generic connection, but an integration that fits your Oracle environment. Giesbus determines together with you which method fits.
The 2 methods compared
Method 1: Oracle EBS Integration
This integration (formerly Loftware Oracle Agent) connects your Loftware labeling solution with Oracle E-Business Suite, so Oracle Warehouse Management (WMS) can send and process print requests. An Oracle administrator installs this component directly in the Oracle EBS system database. The Loftware administrator does not need to enter Oracle credentials when configuring label templates.
Behind the scenes, processing runs through Loftware Automation, which receives the XML data from Oracle EBS through a REST API. Automation retrieves the right label template from Documents in Control Center and sends the label directly to the right printer. There is no manual step between Oracle and your print floor. Giesbus takes care of installing Automation and generating the subscription key through the Oracle Cloud Developer Portal.
| Feature | Detail |
|---|---|
| Oracle environment | Oracle E-Business Suite (EBS), on-premise system database |
| Installation | By an Oracle administrator, directly in the Oracle EBS system database |
| Communication | Print requests through Oracle WMS, can be updated independently |
| Supported by | Loftware Cloud Business/Compliance/Enterprise, Loftware Cloud Enterprise SP, Loftware NiceLabel LMS |
Method 2: Oracle Cloud Integration (OIC)
This integration is an OIC adapter that lets Oracle Cloud applications, such as Oracle Supply Chain Management (SCM), drive label printing directly. An OIC user installs and configures the adapter in an Oracle Integration 3 instance within Oracle Cloud. This requires access to Oracle Cloud SCM and an Oracle Integration 3 instance.
Behind the scenes, processing runs through Loftware Automation as with EBS, using the same REST API architecture. So the setup on the Loftware side is the same for both methods; only the Oracle side differs. Your OIC administrator configures the Loftware adapter with a few fixed details: the subscription key, the label template, the printer and the data fields to use. Giesbus supplies these details and coordinates with your Oracle administrator.
| Feature | Detail |
|---|---|
| Oracle environment | Oracle Cloud SCM with an Oracle Integration 3 instance |
| Installation | By an OIC user, in Oracle Integration 3 within Oracle Cloud |
| Communication | API trigger with an Ocp-Apim-Subscription-Key header |
| Supported by | Loftware Cloud Enterprise SP and Loftware Cloud |
Which Loftware Oracle integration fits your organization?
Not only your current Oracle system determines the choice, but also your cloud strategy:
| Situation | Recommended method |
|---|---|
| Oracle E-Business Suite on-premise | Oracle EBS Integration |
| Oracle Cloud SCM with Oracle Integration 3 | Oracle Cloud Integration (OIC) |
| Moving from EBS to Oracle Cloud | Both methods temporarily side by side during the migration |
Giesbus analyzes your current Oracle architecture and advises which method offers the lowest risk and the fastest implementation.
Beyond these two methods: the wider Oracle ecosystem
Besides these two methods, Loftware also supports OVI-certified connections, such as the Oracle Cloud Marketplace, Oracle SCM Cloud Apps and JD Edwards EnterpriseOne. For Oracle NetSuite there is also a separate connector, developed by partner Blend ERP and available through the SuiteApp store. You can find all connection routes per system on the overview page connecting label software to your ERP.

Frequently asked questions about Loftware Oracle integration
What is the difference between the two methods?
Oracle EBS Integration connects Loftware with an on-premise Oracle E-Business Suite database. OIC, on the other hand, is an adapter for Oracle Cloud applications such as Oracle SCM, installed in an Oracle Integration 3 instance.
Can I use both methods at the same time during a migration?
Yes. Your current Oracle EBS Integration stays active while you configure OIC for the new Oracle Cloud environment. This prevents disruption of your labeling process during the move.
Does Loftware Oracle integration also work with Oracle NetSuite?
Yes, through a separate connector from partner Blend ERP, available in the SuiteApp store. This connection falls outside the two main integrations and works on the basis of Loftware Cloud label design and printing.
