In the food industry, every label has to be right: ingredients, allergens, shelf life and batch number. One error can directly affect consumers and quickly leads to a recall. Giesbus connects Loftware to your ERP or production system, so that data goes onto the label automatically, without retyping.
What food companies run into
- Allergen and ingredient declarations that are adjusted by hand with every recipe change.
- Best-before dates and batch numbers typed in by operators on the shop floor.
- Label designs on separate computers, without central management or version control.
- Requirements from retailers and distribution centers, such as GS1-compliant SSCC pallet labels.
- Several sites or production lines that all have to print the same, current labels.
How Giesbus solves this
The product data is already in your ERP. Loftware retrieves it from there and fills in the label automatically: ingredients, allergens, best-before date, batch and barcode. When a recipe changes, the change is immediately on every new label. You manage label designs centrally in Loftware Cloud, with version control, so every location works with the same version.
For our customers in food we connected Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central, Dynamics Navision and Odoo, among others. A simple central data source, such as a shared Google Sheet, can also serve as the basis. Read more about the options per system on the page ERP integration.

Frequently asked questions about labeling in food
Can Loftware format allergens in bold or differently automatically?
Yes. The ingredient list comes from your ERP or data source, and in the label design you define how allergens are displayed. This happens the same way on every label, without manual work.
Can the best-before date and batch number go onto the label automatically?
Yes. At Edough and Edex Food, the batch number and best-before date come straight from the ERP. The operator no longer has to type them, so typing errors disappear.
We supply supermarkets. Can you create SSCC pallet labels?
Yes. At Edex Food, Dynamics 365 Business Central creates the SSCC code and Loftware Cloud Business prints the GS1-128 pallet label. Distribution centers can process every pallet in one scan.
Do we need a large ERP system?
No. Loftware connects to ERP systems such as Business Central, Navision and Odoo, but also to a database or a central spreadsheet. Together we look at which data source is leading for you.
